Cursed humans, fairies, vampires, witches, shape-shifters, sorcerers, spirits, zombies...some evil, some benevolent; always hard to predict.
It's unclear whether such things are drawn to Helen, or her house, or her housemate, or some combination of the three. With the help of her sisters, Patrick, neighbors and a host of unusual characters, Helen has become adept at dealing with the beings that intrude into her otherwise quiet life.
Some of the Extraordinary - and where we meet them
Maybelle (Introduced in After Daylight's Gone)
Petite and pitiful when they first met her, Maybelle instantly looks like trouble for Helen and Patrick. And she proves to be just that, quickly changing from the pathetic waif they first thought her to be into a strong enemy...or ally, depending on the situation.
Sarah ("Lavender Blues")
Sarah, the former owner of a house Helen acquires, continues to reside on the property decades after her death. A bitter, vengeful woman in life,as a spirit Sarah continues to make trouble for people who cross her. While protective of things she cares about, she has little concern for collateral damage caused by anything she does. Never knowing what she holds dear or despises makes it harder to predict when and how she will make her presence and her feelings known.
Keenan ("Christmas Presence")
While not a constant presence,he has made himself known. Seemingly cheerful and eager to help, Helen and her family still worry that something or someone might upset the friendly ghost. Having shown that he can easily do things to be useful, knowing how much energy he has available if he chooses to cause mischief is concerning.
Caleb ("Changing Stripes")
Hexed by a witch, the sweet-natured,young man wants to live a normal life, but his curse makes that difficult. Helen and Patrick are used to such challenges and happy to help, even though none of them knows when or how Caleb's uniqueness may affect everyone and everything around them.
Rags ("Ghost Tails")
While less energetic and mishap-prone than his living canine pal, Sam, even being non-corporeal doesn't keep this lovable dog from getting into difficult situations, both with and without his mortal, four-legged companion.
Truth ("Paws from the past")
Feline mascot of True Stories Creative Center, former pet of Sarah who haunts the Center, he has a much nicer temperament than his mistress, being that he's from the past, but not a ghost..
